Platoon Logo Designs

My brother asked me to come up with some logo ideas for his platoon and company. The mascot, or whatever you call it, is "warpig" and "wolfpack". Don't remember which ones for the platoon and which one's the company.

Yes. I can hear you sniggering. I didn't come up with the names. Remember, they're a bunch of teenage boys who have been stuck out in the summer heat in Georgia for weeks now. Give them a break.

I haven't heard back from him on what he thinks. I hope he likes something; he's asked me to do things like this before for his airsoft teams and I've kind of dropped the ball on him several times . . .

Sketchbook Project 2012

I have signed up for the Sketchbook Project 2012! Sign up, they send you a sketchbook, you fill it and send it back next February and it goes on "tour" all over the world. Well, sort of. The US and Canada. The Brits and Aussies are the only ones who get their work shown in their own countries, but still. It's a cool exercise and a tool for motivation.

I Know, I Know

I dropped off the face of the earth for a while there. Well, okay, for a long while. But for the present, I'm back. And I've got some pictures from my trip to England and Scotland! I was experimenting with a polaroid program and that's why they look so cool.

The first one is from York Cathedral in, well, York. The second one was taken on a hike in Ambleside in the Lake District.

I've also been up to Washington State. My siblings and I went backpacking along the coast (in the rain and cold). I'll put some pictures up from that soon as well as some of the art pieces I've been working on.

Hamlet Sketch

"This above all: to thine own self be true" (Hamlet, Act I, Sc. III)

This is the latest project that I've been working on. I'm trying to put together a couple of posters for various operas, ballets and plays to send out as sample pieces for theaters around Houston. This one is in progress for a Hamlet poster. My photo reference is up there on the left, and those are some of my color comps are on the other side. My goal is to finish it this weekend, but what with the Fourth of July and the huge barbeque my family is planning, who knows if that'll actually happen.

I'm working full time as a kind of personal secretary, and finding the time to do art has been really hard. I've been doing some life sketching but with Houston weather (i.e. it's really hot right now) it's king of hard to be out there for more than 30-45 minuets.
